…yes, it is true. Google analytics has by far the best features in addition to sporting a transparent customizable dashboard. I have looked at three other free tools in addition to the five I have tested but there is no point posting more comparisons since these “competitors” pale to insignificance. Please let me know if you have found anything out there that is free and comes up to Google Analytics feature set, usability, help center etc etc.
Until then let us crown the king - GOOGLE ANALYTICS - wrap things up and move on.

Unless you have personal problems with Google there is no good reason in sight which could be brought forward in favor of using another tool. The general trade-off is that you get your data tracked, stored and presented in a dashboard (sometimes even with download options) for free but all the providers can use it themselves “to improve their offerings for you, estimated client” as well as make it available for “trusted” third parties inside and sometimes even outside the company.

Well, well - that does not go down too smoothly with German privacy protection laws and - yes - there have been lawsuits against people using Google Analytics as well as other free web analytics or tracking tools and not informing their users that their data is - in fact - stored, tracked and possibly sold to and used by third parties. To avoid these gruesome things to happen to you please make sure to put a piece of information/disclaimer on your website.
